An Early Look At Grand Theft Auto V

18 September 2013

One of the most highly anticipated games of the year, Grand Theft Auto V is finally available worldwide for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The team behind the game, Rockstar North, launched the title on Tuesday to excited fans around the globe. The latest addition to the GTA series of titles provides players with even more freedom than its predecessors, pushing the boundaries and expanding potential game play options.

For instance, GTA V allows players to swap between and simultaneously play out the lives of three main characters, all of whom are experiencing different sides of the overarching storyline. By providing gamers with access to three distinct characters and personalities, the game allows players the view the story from three perspectives rather than relying on the hook of a “penniless street thug” who builds up his rep in the world of crime. The first character in GTA V is gangbanger, the second is a reformed criminal who’s fallen back into his old ways, and the third and most interesting character is Trevor—a sociopathic animal with no self-control.

The fifth game also differentiates itself from Rockstar North’s other GTA titles by dropping players right into the heart of the action from the get-go. Unlike earlier games, you don’t have to spend the first couple hours on small-time quests; instead, you can start off with high-level escapades and full-out bank heists from the first moment of gameplay. The game is set in a fictional reimagining of Southern California, GTA V takes players through urban Los Santos and the rural countryside of Blaine County.

As an added bonus, players who purchase the game will also have access to a brand new MMO version of the game, Grand Theft Auto Online, which launches October 1st.
